Game Jams
I never cease to be amazed by Unity. We had a game jam this weekend (big one, arranged with IGDA, the IT-University of Copenhagen, DigiNet, sponsored by Apple Europe).

5 groups of between 2 and around 6 people created games with Unity in just 48 hours, and the results were breath-taking, especially since none of these people had used Unity before!

I did a fair amount of support, but most of it was just saving people a bit of time by pointing to the docs, and explaining simple 3D geometry. So nothing people couldn't have figured out by themselves... I think that's a big success.

The games should get published online soon, I'll post again then. Right you can see a bit of artwork from one the games here. It's called OneGun and a pretty clever piece of work. It's labeled as a gothic shooter, and is a two player game. The catch is that there's only one gun, and by pressing the space bar either player can steal the gun from the other.

The asset production was amazing to watch, with Jonaz doing a silly amount of evil level work and nasty to behold animated characters. By the way, Jonaz is the guy that did most of the art for the cave demo that was shown at WWDC '05.
