18:00 - 21:00 March 11, 2020 in Bristol, United KingdomBVRL Evening Seminar and Social - Architecture, Engineering and Construction will take place from 6pm on 11th March, 2019
About this Event
Talks, networking, food, drink and demos at Bristol VR Lab, with Unity3D, Atkins and Whiley & Co
This special evening seminar and networking event is aimed at those working in architecture, engineering and construction.
Whether you have previously worked with immersive and/or gaming technology, or if it's something you're interested in finding more about, this event is for you.
We're not attempting to turn our attendees into coders, we want to arm them with an extra arrow in their quiver.
VR/AR and games tech are perfect matches for AEC; whether it's land surveys, arch viz, construction inventory management, planning, public consultation, client engagement, noise surveys or impact assessments, there's something the tech can add.
Bringing projects into VR and AR removes a level of abstraction for clients and allows them to visualise projects spatially in realtime, with deep levels of interaction, without the need to understand complex, specialised software.
Using plugins to bridge the gap between game engines and long-established BIM programs means changes can be made in realtime, right before a client's eyes, by your company's experts, simply with the software they've been using their entire careers.
After the initial talks from our guests there will be time for networking and demos, with food and drink provided by Unity3D.
Jack Strongitharm, Unity 3D - "Real-time BIM: How to build on top of Unity Reflect"
Whether you’re a developer or have never touched a line of code, Unity Reflect lets you create real-time BIM experiences in real time to win more projects, conduct immersive design reviews, and connect design and construction.
In this session, Jack Strongitharm will go through the simple process of using Unity Reflect to connect to build with BIM data from Autodesk Revit and walk you through custom real-time BIM applications built with Unity Reflect and the Unity Editor.
Ross Goold, Atkins - Application of Real-Time Tools in AEC Project Delivery
Ross Goold will demonstrate some projects that have used real-time applications for use in public consultation, data visualisation, design decision making and site safety among others and the impacts this has provided.
Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies.
Bristol VR Lab is located on the first floor of the Leadworks building. The main entrance is via Bristol Aquarium and there is a push button doorbell on the left as you arrive. On entry to the lab there is a flight of stairs or a lift that may require support to use.
