Standard Services Descriptions

Below are descriptions of Unity’s standard Professional Services offerings (“Services Descriptions”). Each of the Services Descriptions is issued under and subject to all of the terms and conditions of the Professional Services Terms, unless otherwise agreed in writing and signed by Unity.

Any capitalized terms not defined in a Services Description have the meaning set forth in the Agreement.

Code Assets and Performance Consultancy Services

If you purchase Code Assets and Performance Consultancy services, the following applies:

Unity will provide you with expert optimization guidance for your Unity project’s code and assets from its Professional Services Personnel, who will provide you with the Professional Services set forth below over a period of 2 consecutive weeks (within this Services Description, the “Term”).  

These Professional Services include: 

  • Up to 3 Working Days on-site at your location (or elsewhere, as agreed with Unity), subject to the parties’ respective employee health and travel policies*, assisting you on one (1) Unity project, which may consist of (a) profiling your Unity project using publicly available and Unity tools; (b) with your team’s guidance, performing experimental alterations of your project’s code and assets; (c) analyzing your project’s source code; and/or (d) analyzing the Unity Software source code to compare it with the architecture of your project’s code and assets.

  • Additional, remote services after the onsite visit, which may consist of (a) performing sufficient research to reasonably answer any questions that arose during Unity’s onsite visit;  (b) consulting with other Unity staff about aspects of your project; and/or (c) constructing prototypes and test cases in order to evaluate Unity’s recommendations to you.

  • A written report within 10 business days of the onsite visit (this may be delivered after the Term), which report will consist of (a) Unity’s recommendations for achieving your project’s performance goals; (b) technical background information to help you understand and successfully execute on Unity’s recommendations; (c) Unity’s notable findings that arise from Unity’s analysis of your project; and (d) Unity’s notable findings that result from research Unity conducts after analyzing your project.

Dedicated Expert Advisor Services

If you purchase Dedicated Expert Advisor services, the following applies:

Unity will provide you with one (1) expert consultant (your “Expert Advisor”), who will provide you with the Professional Services set forth below over a set period of consecutive months, as indicated on your Order Form (within this Services Description, the “Term”).  

These Professional Services include direct assistance from your Expert Advisor for one (1) or more of your Unity projects during the Term.  Your Expert Advisor may be responsible for the following, each as reasonably requested by you:

  • Assisting your team with technical architecture and implementation of core technical systems, gameplay systems, and content platform systems;

  • Providing guidance to your technical and artistic staff regarding Unity Software best practices and technical details;

  • Providing advice and guidance on the Unity Software’s technical internals and relevant source code-level implementation details; 

  • Advising on, and performing, profiling and optimizations of your Unity project; 

  • Advising on, and performing, debugging of your Unity project; 

  • Providing Unity Editor scripting and tool development; 

  • Assisting your team with creating bug reproduction cases; 

  • Assisting your team with updating your Unity project to new Unity Software releases; and/or

  • Additional Professional Services as set forth on your Order Form. 

Unity is under no obligation to deliver more than one (1) Professional Services Personnel at a time to act as your Expert Advisor.  Unity agrees to notify you and discuss such changes with you in the event Unity makes changes to your designated Expert Advisor during the Term.

DOTS Accelerator

If you purchase a DOTS (Data-Oriented Technology Stack) Accelerator, the following applies:

Unity will provide you with expert guidance for adopting DOTS from Professional Services Personnel, who will provide you with the Professional Services set forth below over a sprint period of 4 consecutive days (within this Services Description, the “Term”).  

These Professional Services include: 

  • 4 Working Days in person at Unity’s offices, subject to the parties’ respective employee health and travel policies*, collaborating with your team to develop a prototype or proof-of-concept of a single technical system using DOTS, in order to demonstrate DOTS capabilities, provide an example of data-oriented programming, and provide a starting point for developing future systems. Such services will consist of (a) analyzing your project goals and identifying a data architecture to build; (b) analyzing your source code and the Unity Software source code to develop a technical architecture implementation plan; and (c) writing project code and altering assets to prototype solutions for identified goals.  

  • Unity will transfer knowledge to your staff and otherwise provide you with relevant technical information underlying Unity’s analyses and recommendations. 

You acknowledge and agree that at least 1, and up to 4, of your senior staff are required to attend the full duration of the workshop. 

DOTS Success Plan

If you purchase a DOTS (Data-Oriented Technology Stack) Success Plan, the following applies:

Unity will provide you with expert guidance for long-term success with DOTS from Professional Services Personnel, who will provide you with the Professional Services set forth below over a period of 12 consecutive months (within this Services Description, the “Term”).  

These Professional Services are bundled with:

  • A 3-day in-person training workshop serving as an intensive introduction to DOTS performed on-site at your location (or elsewhere, as agreed with Unity), subject to the parties’ respective employee health and travel policies*. This workshop must be scheduled at least 30 days in advance and is subject to the Unity Onsite Training Workshop Additional Terms

  • Up to 3 subsequent, quarterly “Learn Live” online training workshops dedicated to DOTS updates. Such workshops require a subscription to Learn Premium, both of which are subject to the Unity Learn Premium Additional Terms.

These Professional Services include: 

  • Following the in-person training workshop, Unity will provide a 4-day prototyping session on-site at your location (or elsewhere, as agreed with Unity), subject to the parties’ respective employee health and travel policies*, to put the knowledge your team gained during the training workshop into action.

  • Following each of the 3 quarterly trainings, Unity will provide a 1-day follow-up session on-site at your location (or elsewhere, as agreed with Unity), subject to the parties’ respective employee health and travel policies*, to keep your project and roadmap up to date.

  • Throughout the onsite Professional Services, Unity will collaborate with your team to develop a prototype or proof-of-concept of a single technical system using DOTS, in order to demonstrate DOTS capabilities, provide an example of data-oriented programming, and provide a starting point for developing future systems. Such services will consist of (a) analyzing your project goals and identifying a data architecture to build; (b) analyzing your source code and the Unity Software source code to develop a technical architecture implementation plan; (c) writing project code and altering assets to prototype solutions for identified goals.  

  • Unity will transfer knowledge to your staff and otherwise provide you with relevant technical information underlying Unity’s analyses and recommendations. 

You acknowledge and agree that at least 1, and up to 4, of your senior staff are required to attend the full duration of the workshop.

Optimization Accelerator

If you purchase an Optimization Accelerator, the following applies:

Unity will provide you with expert guidance to boost your project’s performance and equip your team with knowledge and best practices from Professional Services Personnel, who will provide you with the Professional Services set forth below over a focused sprint over a mutually agreed period of consecutive days (within this Services Description, the “Term”).  

These Professional Services include: 

  • Up to 4 Working Days in person at Unity’s offices, subject to the parties’ respective employee health and travel policies*, collaborating with your team to analyze one (1) Unity project’s performance, test solutions and implement improvements. Such services will consist of (a) analyzing your Unity project using the Unity Software and platform-native tools and technologies; (b) analyzing your source code and the Unity Software source code to identify potential improvements; (c) writing project code and altering assets to prototype solutions for identified problems; and (d) defining new or altered technical architectures to resolve issues stemming from overall technical architecture. 

  • Unity will transfer knowledge to your staff and otherwise provide you with relevant technical information underlying Unity’s analyses and recommendations. 

You acknowledge and agree that at least 1, and up to 4, of your senior staff are required to attend the full duration of the workshop.

Pipeline Review Services

If you purchase Pipeline Review services, the following applies:

Unity will provide you with expert real-time 3D guidance for your current media / entertainment / film content production pipeline from Unity’s Professional Services Personnel, who will provide you with the Professional Services set forth below over a period of 2 consecutive weeks (within this Services Description, the “Term”).  

These Professional Services include: 

  • Up to 3 Working Days on-site at your location (or elsewhere, as agreed with Unity), subject to the parties’ respective employee health and travel policies*, assisting you with integrating the Unity Software into your current content production pipeline.  Such services may consist of (a) profiling your pipeline using publicly available and Unity tools; (b) with your team’s guidance, performing experimental alterations of your code and assets; (c) analyzing your source code; and/or (d) analyzing the Unity Software source code to compare it with the architecture of your code and assets.

  • Additional, remote services after the onsite visit, which may consist of (a) performing sufficient research to reasonably answer any questions that arose during Unity’s onsite visit; (b) consulting with other Unity staff about aspects of your project; and/or (c) constructing prototypes and test cases in order to evaluate Unity’s recommendations to you.

  • A written report within 10 business days of the onsite visit (this may be delivered after the Term), which report will consist of (a) Unity’s recommendations for achieving Unity Software integration into your studio workflows; (b) technical background information to help you understand and successfully execute on Unity’s recommendations; (c) Unity’s notable findings that arise from Unity’s analysis of your pipeline; and (d) Unity’s notable findings that result from research Unity conducts after analyzing your pipeline.

Professional Services Envisioning

If you purchase Professional Services Envisioning services, the following applies:

Unity will provide you with expert guidance to help you start working with real-time 3D technology from Unity’s Professional Services Personnel, who will provide you with the Professional Services set forth below over a period of 2 consecutive weeks (within this Services Description, the “Term”).  

These Professional Services include: 

  • Up to 4 Working Days on-site at your location (or elsewhere, as agreed with Unity), subject to the parties’ respective employee health and travel policies*, collaborating with your team to prove the concept of a project that leverages the Unity Software.  Such services may consist of (a) a 2-day discovery session to provide understanding of the project’s intended end users and key locations (for location-based projects), document the workflows of intended end users, refine the scope of any future projects and understand dependencies; and (b) a 2-day envisioning workshop to identify real-time 3D use cases, create concepts, identify the outcome, share knowledge, and identify the outputs or scope for any future projects, framed around your vision. 

  • Written documentation within 10 business days of the onsite visit (this may be delivered after the Term), which documentation will consist of (a) initial documentation (typically a PowerPoint) detailing the vision for future projects that leverage the Unity Software, such as storyboards or early 3D visualizations representing the vision of future projects; and (b) a project plan for future projects that leverage the Unity Software, which plan will provide you with an action plan, timeline and delivery expectations for your team. 

You acknowledge and agree that your key stakeholders and vision holders for the project who have the ability to make decisions concerning future projects are required to attend both the discovery session and the envisioning workshop.  You agree to provide Professional Services Personnel with all relevant files, document and data prior to commencement of the Term. 

Reflect Accelerator

If you purchase a Reflect Accelerator, the following applies:

Unity will provide you with expert guidance to quickly get your custom project started with Unity Reflect from Professional Services Personnel, who will provide you with the Professional Services set forth below over a focused sprint over a mutually agreed period of consecutive days (within this Services Description, the “Term”).  

These Professional Services include: 

  • Up to 4 Working Days in person at Unity’s offices, subject to the parties’ respective employee health and travel policies*, collaborating with your team to build one (1) customized application on top of Unity Reflect using the Unity Software. Such services will consist of (a) defining technical architecture and tasks for improving the Reflect Viewer application with additional, custom functionality; (b) creating initial implementations and prototypes of new, custom functionality using your BIM data; and (c) providing guidance and sample code demonstrating Unity Software and Unity Reflect best practices. 

  • Unity will transfer knowledge to your staff and otherwise provide you with relevant technical information underlying Unity’s analyses and recommendations. 

You agree to provide Professional Services Personnel with all relevant BIM data prior to commencement of the Term. 

You acknowledge and agree that at least 1, and up to 4, of your senior staff are required to attend the full duration of the workshop. 

Technical Architecture Consultancy Services

If you purchase Technical Architecture Consultancy services, the following applies:

Unity will provide you with expert project architecture guidance from its Professional Services Personnel, who will provide you with the Professional Services set forth below over a period of 2 consecutive weeks (within this Services Description, the “Term”).  

These Professional Services include: 

  • Up to 3 Working Days on-site at your location (or elsewhere, as agreed with Unity), subject to the parties’ respective employee health and travel policies*, assisting you on one (1) Unity project.  Such services may consist of (a) profiling your Unity project using publicly available and Unity tools; (b) with your team’s guidance, performing experimental alterations of your project’s code and assets; (c) analyzing your project’s source code; and/or (d) analyzing the Unity Software source code to compare it with the architecture of your project’s code and assets.

  • Additional, remote services after the onsite visit, which may consist of (a) performing sufficient research to reasonably answer any questions that arose during Unity’s onsite visit; (b) consulting with other Unity staff about aspects of your project; and/or (c) constructing prototypes and test cases in order to evaluate Unity’s recommendations to you.

  • A written report within 10 business days of the onsite visit (this may be delivered after the Term), which report will consist of (a) Unity’s recommendations for achieving your project’s architecture goals; (b) technical background information to help you understand and successfully execute on Unity’s recommendations; (c) Unity’s notable findings that arise from Unity’s analysis of your project; and (d) Unity’s notable findings that result from research Unity conducts after analyzing your project.

Technical Art Review Services

If you purchase Tech Art Review services, the following applies:

Unity will provide you with expert asset optimization guidance for your content production pipeline from Unity’s Professional Services Personnel, who will provide you with the Professional Services set forth below over a period of 2 consecutive weeks (within this Services Description, the “Term”).  

These Professional Services include: 

  • Up to 3 Working Days on-site at your location (or elsewhere, as agreed with Unity), subject to the parties’ respective employee health and travel policies*, assisting you with improving speed and interaction time using the Unity Software in your content production pipeline.  Such services may consist of (a) profiling your pipeline using publicly available and Unity tools; (b) with your team’s guidance, performing experimental alterations of your code and assets; (c) analyzing your source code; (d) analyzing your art source; and/or (e) analyzing the Unity Software source code to compare it with the architecture of your code and assets.

  • Additional, remote services after the onsite visit, which may consist of (a) performing sufficient research to reasonably answer any questions that arose during Unity’s onsite visit; (b) consulting with other Unity staff about aspects of your project; and/or (c) constructing prototypes and test cases in order to evaluate Unity’s recommendations to you.

  • A written report within 10 business days of the onsite visit (this may be delivered after the Term), which report will consist of (a) Unity’s recommendations for achieving your content production pipeline goals; (b) technical background information to help you understand and successfully execute on Unity’s recommendations; (c) Unity’s notable findings that arise from Unity’s analysis of your project; and (d) Unity’s notable findings that result from research Unity conducts after analyzing your pipeline. 

 

* If a party’s employee health and travel policy prevents in-person Professional Services for any reason, Unity will attempt to offer remote Professional Services as an alternative.
